Morning checkout and drive to Mysore Steeped in History, Mysore – the adobe of untold grandeur and glory – is where the rich heritage of the Wodeyar Kings is carefully preserved to this day in its magnificent palaces, beautifully laid-out gardens, imposing buildings, board shady avenues and sacred temples. There’s an old world charm about the city. Built in Indo-Saracenic style with domes, turrets, arches and colonnades, the Palace is a treasure house of exquisite carvings and works of art from all over the world. On arrival check in. Today you can go for a sightseeing of Mysore, starting with the famous palace that used to be the residence of the Wodeyars dynasty. Built in 1912 in an Indo-Saracenic style, it is one of the largest palaces in India. Then, visit of the Jayachamrajendra Art Gallery, gathering a collection of paintings dating back to 1875. Drive to the Chamundi hill, with a stop at the bull temple & visit the 2000-year-old temple, dedicated to Goddess Chamundi.
Evening free to walk around the Devaraj market busy streets with colorful shops, sellers in the platform and crowdie bus station. Overnight stay in Mysore.
Morning check out from the hotel and drive to Wayanad set in the picturesque Western Ghats and mountains at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level. Littered with tropical rain forests, dense hills, rolling paddy fields, spice plantations and valleys, Wayanad is a hitherto undiscovered location offering breathtaking views. Start your cycling tour from your resort and ride to the enchanting teagardens of Pozhuthana, some of which are the oldest plantations in Wayanad, and squeezed between mist clad mountains, miles of tea carpeted slopes and a winding river. The day will start with a hike into the forests, heading towards a mountain stream. There are many irresistible swimming holes that one can spend time at. In the afternoon you will get onto the cycles and pedal down one of the many scenic trails either on smooth roads or mixing roads with mud trails based on your fitness and preference. At the end of the cycling reach the river, where bamboo rafts will await you with river guides and life jackets. Get midstream and pole, row, swim or wade your way to the landing point. Morning checkout and drive to Ooty, a beautiful hill town in Tamil Nadu, referred to as ‘Queen of Hill Stations’. On arrival check in. Later precede for an exploration tour to visit Botanical garden, Doddabetta park and tea plantations. Overnight stay in Ooty.
Morning proceed for an excursion to a Toda Tribal village, inhabited by the Todas which is a pastoral community. Observe the daily lifestyle of people. Shop for their handicrafts and hand- woven shawls in bright colors such as red, white and black colors. If you want then you can visit the local Dairy Temple, made in a cone shape. Back to Ooty for an overnight stay.
Morning checkout and drive to Coimbatore railway station for train to Cochin. On arrival at Ernakulam railway station drive to hotel. On arrival, check in. Optional: Evening visit “Kathakali” show. This dance can be characterized by grotesque gesticulations, amazing costumes and very extensive make-up. The stories are mostly taken from the epics Mahabharatha and Ramayana. (Overnight at Cochin)
Morning proceed for Rural Village Tour. Drive to one of the oldest village during your visit walk through the community and see what life is like here on a typical day. See village temple, local house interact with people and see various activities like pot making, coconut oil extraction, coir carpet industry, Khadi handloom weaving, etc. Enjoy traditional lunch served in banana leaf and later proceed for backwater cruise which starts from the narrow canals of 4feet in depth and then it enters the main river, which is 10-12 feet deep. Since the river originates from high ranges, it is clean and not salty. The boat passes through coconut palm groves like a canopy, providing a cool atmosphere. Morning proceed to visit the Mattancherry Palace, built by the Portuguese in 1555. The Palace was presented to the Raja of Cochin as a gesture of goodwill. This was also known as the Dutch Palace (Closed on Friday), resulting from substantial renovation by the Dutch after 1663. The central hall was the Coronation Hall of the Rajas. Their dresses, turbans and palanquins and murals from Hindu mythology are all beautiful and worth seeing. Culminate the tour at Fort Kochi, which is said to be the oldest European settlement in India.
Fort Kochi is the earliest recorded settlement on the Malabar Coast, with its beautiful colonial bungalow peppered with Dutch, Portuguese and Malabar architecture. The many small winding streets with lovely old houses are truly a treasure trove. (Overnight stay in Cochin)
